MANSFIELD, Ohio – Neos Dance Theatre will host an audition for community members to join the casts of two productions: “Count…The Legend of Dracula,” with performance on Oct. 17 and “A 1940’s Nutcracker,” with performances on Dec. 11 and 12.
Both productions are to be performed at the Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield.
Neos is currently seeking 25 to 30 additional cast members from the community and surrounding areas to play a wide range of dancing and acting roles in two newly revamped and exciting multi-media productions. The company will cast both productions separately – those interested can audition for one or both at the same time.
Auditions will take place in the Neos Dance Theatre Studios, located at 101 North Main Street, Mansfield, on Sept. 12 and 13.
There will be five audition time slots made available for various age groups and dance experience:
- 2-3 p.m. for students 6 to 10 years old. Dancers may arrive at any time during this time frame for a ‘drop-in’ audition. Please do not arrive early.
- 3-4 p.m. for students 11 to 15 years old. Dancers are asked to arrive half an hour early so that they may have their measurements taken and audition together starting at 3 p.m. with a short movement session.
- 4-5 p.m. for students 16 to 24 years old. Dancers are asked to arrive half an hour early so that they may have their measurements taken and audition together starting at 4 p.m. with a short ballet class.
- 5-6 p.m. for adults with a varying range of dance and/or acting experience.
Sunday, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. will be a make-up day and by appointment only.
Neos requests an audition fee of $5 from each person auditioning. Please have exact change. Checks are accepted.
A parent or guardian must be present for students under 18 years of age to sign appropriate waiver forms. These can be downloaded and signed in advance from our website: www.neosdancetheatre.org
If and when dancers are selected to participate, each student will receive a contract to sign and return along with a participation fee of $45. This fee will cover costs to costume and run rehearsals and is due on or before the first rehearsal. The contract will include specific rehearsal times, costume and makeup requirements, and any additional information about the production.
Except for the week of the performances (Oct. 12 – 17, Dracula; Dec. 6 – 12, Nutcracker) rehearsals will take place on weekends from 4-6 p.m. on Fridays, 1-5 p.m. on Saturdays, and a few Sundays afternoon rehearsals to be determined. Exact rehearsal times will be sent out with contracts. Most rehearsals will take place at the Neos Studio unless otherwise stated.
Certain participants will be asked to provide some basic dance wear, such as tights, ballet shoes, and leotard. Neos will keep these costs to a minimum and not every role will require a purchase.
