MANSFIELD, Ohio — Mansfield City Schools will have to continue its search for a new treasurer.

During a special meeting held by the Mansfield City Schools Board of Education on Monday evening, Board President Renda Cline said the candidate for the treasurer position, Annette Harmon, withdrew her application.

Shortly after starting the meeting, the board went into executive session to “consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion or compensation of a public employee or official,” as stated on the meeting agenda. A resolution to hire a treasurer was also on agenda.

After the roughly two-hour executive session, Cline said, “We will not be voting on a treasurer this evening. Our candidate has withdrawn their application. The board will keep the public informed as we move forward with our search.”

On why the candidate withdrew her application, Cline said, “The candidate withdrew for her personal reasons.”

Cline said that the board will continue to conduct its search for a treasurer.

Harmon was one of five candidates interviewed for the position, according to Cline.

When asked whether or not the other candidates who were interviewed will be considered for the position, she said, “The board will definitely keep the public informed as we move forward.”

The next board meeting will be held Aug. 18 at 5 p.m. in the Raemelton Administration Building.
