Marlene E. Hastings, 79, of Mansfield, died unexpectedly Friday, August 7, 2015 at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield Hospital, Mansfield.
Marlene was born in Mansfield on August 18, 1935 and lived here her entire life. She was the daughter of the late John and Wanda (Miller) Gleisinger. She married Harold Hastings on January 5, 1952 and he survives her.
She was a Homemaker, and with her husband, raised her four daughters. A Civil War buff, Marlene had well over 400 books dealing with the Civil War. She loved to read and enjoyed flowers and birds. Her family was her life.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her four daughters: Joyce thomas, Theresa and Charles Adcock, Helen Tolliver and David Montey, Kay and James Patton, all of Crestline, her eight grandchildren: April and Ben Kempf, Harold and Michelle Thomas, Wanda and Todd Wittman, Rachael Hastings, Sarah Mosier, Emma Adcock, Melissa and Eric Hamen and Jacob and Toni Patton, 16 great grandchildren, her brother Melvin O. and Mary Ann Switzer, Mansfield and her sister Freda Webb, Shelby.
She was preceded in death by her infant son Harold Hastings, Jr., her grandson Matthew Tolliver, and her brother Stanley Gleisinger, who died while serving his country in the Vietnam War.
Services for the family will be at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, 223 West Main Street, Crestline, with Pastor Scott Buell officiating. Internment will be in Springmill Cemetery, Mansfield.
