Donna Walter

Donna J. Walter, age 82, a resident of Mansfield, died Tuesday, August 4, 2015 in Crystal Care Nursing home surrounded by her loving family.

Born June 3, 1933 in Bucyrus to James J. and Pauline M. (Ometer) Haspeslagh, she had been a Shelby-Mansfield area resident all her life. A 1951 graduate of Shelby High School, she worked with various manufacturers and retired from Richland Therapy in 1997 as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. Mrs. Walter was a member of the Clay Memorial Lutheran Church and was a lifetime member of DAV and the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW of Mansfield, Amvets #26 of Mansfield.

Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Susan and Jerry Smith of Butler, Sharon Pack of Columbus; daughter-in-law, Denise Kuhn of Crestline; three step children and spouses, Bonnie Gamble of Mansfield, Byron Jr. of Mansfield, Gregory and Sherry Walter of Curtis, OH; eight grandchildren; five step grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren; two sisters, Jacquelin McFarland of Shelby, Karen Quinn of Lexington; one brother and sister-in-law, James L. and Inez Haspeslagh of Norfolk, Nebraska; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur N. Kuhn in 1983 and her second husband, Byron J. Walter in 1999; her son Richard Kuhn; three grandchildren, Brian Ward, Brianna Gerger and Aiden Kimes; brothers-in-law, David Kuhn, Kenneth McFarland and George Quinn; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ross & Coletta Kuhn.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday August 10, 2015 at the Clay Memorial Lutheran Church. Pastor Carol Kilgore will officiate with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Lexington. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4-7 p.m. and 9-10 a.m. Monday prior to the service at the Clay Memorial Lutheran Church. The family would like to sincerely thank all the staff at Crystal Care Center in Mansfield and Care Companions of Ohio and Your Therapy for all of the wonderful and loving care they showed Donna over the past six years.
