BELLVILLE, Ohio – The Salvation Army will host a “Back to School Day” for Clear Fork students from kindergarten through the sixth grade who participate in the free or reduced lunch program. The event will be held from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8 at the Clear Fork Middle School, 987 state Route 97, Bellville.
Pam VanHorn, Clear Fork Valley coordinator for the Salvation Army stated 235 letters were sent out in the Clear Fork school district.
“This is our first year and we want to bring kids together,” said VanHorn.
She noted the Bellville Police and the Jefferson Township/Bellville Fire Department will be on hand.
“We also have physicians and optometrists who are donating their time, providing information and education on the medical profession,” she said.
The medical professionals will also offer ear, nose and throat and heart examinations said VanHorn.
“We have beauticians also donating their time with free haircuts,” she added.
The event will provide students with school backpacks, supplies, and clothing vouchers.
“This year, registering will help us plan for next year. Our motto is ‘Doing the Most Good.’ We want this to be a positive experience,” VanHorn said.
Food will be donated by Jones Potato Chips, Fast Eddie’s, Stoodt’s Market and Kroger.
