MANSFIELD, Ohio – The 64th Annual Tri-County Women’s 36 Hole Medal Golf Tournament was held on Wednesday, July 29, at Westbrook Country Club, and concluded on Friday at Galion Country Club. Thirty one women participated in this event, up from 22 participants last year.
With the scorching temperatures on Wednesday, the scores were somewhat higher, but on Friday the quest for a new champion came down to the last hole of play.
In the Championship flight, winning by one stroke was Cindy Heidlebaugh with a combined two-day total of 170. Coming in second and third places were Katie Roesch with a score of 171, and Linda Kidwell with a score of 174. The Low Net in Championship flight went to Joyce Vanatter with a 159.
First Flight champion was Bev Messner with a score of 182. Cheryl TyRee was second with a 185, with Puttu Bhat coming third with a 186. The Low Net went to Kathy Donaldson with a 149.
Second Flight champion was Carol Miley with a score of 197. Becky Milliron was second with 206, and Mary Miller was third with 210. 2nd Flight Low net winner was Rhonda Johnson with a 155.
Third Flight champion was Barb Larrabee with a 216. Amy Fox was second with a 220, and Marlene Ruhl was third with a 224. 3rd Flight Low Net winner was Peggy Tuttle.
Senior Low Net winner was a tie between Cheryl TyRee and Carol Miley with the gift given to Carol Miley. Both had Low Net scores of 145.
“A huge ‘thank you’ goes out to our host golf courses and their staff, hole sponsors, and door prize sponsors,” said Tri-County Women’s Golf President Cheryl TyRee. “We could not do this without your help.”
The 65th Annual Tri-County Women’s golf tournament dates for 2016 are July 27 and July 29. The host courses are yet to be determined.
