LEXINGTON: Debra Baldwin wasn’t famous because she volunteered in the classroom, helped organize Lexington PTA or was active with Lexington Girl Scouts. Her focused energy on education with her church never won her accolades on this earth. None of those activities made her famous: but they did make her great! A warm, loving and supportive wife and mother, Deb invested herself in others, for their betterment. It’s good people who make good places. Deb contributed to make her community a better place.
Debra Ann Enger Baldwin died Sunday morning August 2, 2015 in her Lexington home at the age of 62.
She was born in Lakewood January 5, 1953, and was graduated from Avon Lake High School. She attended Chaminade University in Honolulu and Kent State University, later earning a degree as a medical laboratory technician. Deb worked at People’s Hospital, Mansfield-Richland County Health Department and OhioHealth MedCentral Health System.
A member of United Methodist Church of the Cross, Deb served on many committees, but primarily focused her energy on the education committee. She taught Sunday school, ran Bible school and taught an After School Bible Class.
Deb enjoyed golfing, flower gardening and delighted in her daughters and granddaughters.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 39 years David S. Baldwin; daughters Kimberly (Michael) Horton of Minneapolis, MN and Camille Baldwin of Brooklyn, New York; and the lights-of-her-life granddaughters Madeline Horton and Genevieve Horton. She is also survived by her sister Marilyn (Larry) Mundorf; her brother Randall (Evelyn Tate) Enger; sisters-in-law Kathleen (Donald) Bashaw, Christine (Steven) Kitsoulis, Patricia (Gerald) Segner, brothers-in-law Kenneth (Maria) Baldwin, Thomas Baldwin; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents George & Marjorie (Byrd) Enger, parents-in-law James & Kathleen (Nefores) Baldwin; and a nephew Corey Bashaw.
The Baldwin family will receive friends Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in United Methodist Church of the Cross, 236 Otterbein Drive, Lexington with the Rev. Dr. Faith Proietti and Pastor Glenn Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery.
As a living memorial, contributions in Deb’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital may be made at the funeral home.
