Oliver W. Vaughan, 83, of rural Loudonville died early Thursday morning, July 23, 2015 in Ohio Health MedCentral Hospital, Mansfield following an extended illness. Oliver was born Sept. 3, 1931 in Rittman and was the son of the late Oliver Jackson and Elfleda Wallace Vaughan. He had lived in the Loudonville area most of his life and was a 1950 graduate of Loudonville High School and proud member of the first undefeated Loudonville football team in 1949. Oliver was a farmer, a building contractor, and served four terms as a Green Township Trustee as well as serving on the Greenlawn Cemetery Board for many years. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War, a member of First Baptist Church, Loudonville, the American Legion Post #257 Loudonville, and VFW Post 8586 Perrysville.
Oliver is survived by his wife, Elsie Frank Vaughan, whom he married March 6, 1959; his daughter and son-in-law: Melinda and Don Hulit of Loudonville; his son and daughter-in-law: Mark and Jen Vaughan of Loudonville; four grandsons: Shawn and Aaron Hulit, David and Kevin Vaughan; and one great-granddaughter: Sydney Bailey Hulit. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael A. Vaughan on July 26, 1984; a brother, Marvin Vaughan on Sept. 28, 2003; and an infant sister.
A Celebration of Oliver’s Life will be held Wednesday, July 29, at 10 a.m. in First Baptist Church, Loudonville with Rev. John Fitch officiating. Burial with military honors by the American Legion and VFW will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville.
There will be no calling hours but the family invites friends and relatives to a luncheon in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the graveside services.
