BELLVILLE, Ohio — The Clear Fork Valley Athletic Hall of Fame has announced the 2015 Clear Fork Valley Athletic Hall of Fame inductess and Hall of Fame Classic football game.
“This will be another special year in the Valley. As you see, each of the four would have been inducted into any hall of fame in Ohio,” Jerry Marshall, Hall of Fame president emeritus said. “We are very pleased that former Bellville High School and Ashland University Football Coach Fred Martinelli (College Hall of Fame) will be at the podium introducing Ron Kochheiser.”
The Hall of Fame Classic (C.F. v Ontario) Football Game is Friday, Sept. 4 and the 2015 Hall of Fame Class will be introduced in a pregame ceremony.
Then, the Hall of Fame Class of 2015 will be formally inducted at a program to be held at the high school on Sunday, Sept. 6 beginning at 2 p.m. The induction will be followed by a reception and the public is invited. There is no admission charge.
Dan Henry, Clear Fork High School class of 1995 will be inducted. His football record includes 1st Team All-Ohio, Ohio’s Co-Defensive(DB) Player Of The Year 1994, Northwest District Player Of The Year 1994, All Ohio Punter 1993. His career record includes 17 Interceptions and 115 tackles. His baseball career includes the title of team captain. He made All-District honors and was a three-year letterman. He is a US Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete.
Ron Kochheiser will be inducted representing the Bellville High School Class of 1955. Kochheiser was an All-Ohio basketball player, team captain and most valuable player. He achieved All-Tournament Team, 1st Team All District Team, and News Journal and Toledo Blade 1st Team honors. As a football player he was a four-year starting guard, made 1st Team All Conference, and was a member of the 1953 Undefeated Blue Jays team.
The 1980 Lady Colt Softball team, with an 18-4 record, will also be inducted. Their coaches were Matry Plas and Cheryl Sowash. The team was the first Colt team In any sport to make state finals and held a 17-game winning streak, only halted In the state tournament.
Also to be inducted is the 2010 Clear Fork Varsity Baseball Division lll State Champions with Head Coach Jeremy Riddle. Their 32-2 record earned them induction. Their 17 wins were mercy ruled, including the championship game. The team record includes a batting average of .416. They scored 378 runs and gave Up 86 runs with an E RA of 2.34.
