D. Presley “Shotgun” Mynhier, age 91, resident of Port Orange, FL and former Shelby, Ohio resident, died Thursday, April 30, 2015 at his home in Florida.
Born June 20, 1923 in Morehead, Kentucky to Marion and Millie (Gregory) Mynhier he had been a Shelby resident the majority of his life before moving to Florida in 1984. Presley had worked at Ohio Steel Tube in Shelby for 42 years and later worked at Publix in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida.
He loved spending time with his family and friends, fishing, gardening, bowling, working jigsaw puzzles, as well as cheering on his favorite sports teams – The Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Presley is survived by his daughter, Deborah Harley of Lakeland, FL; his grandchildren, Mike and Marty Loveless, Beth Meabe, and Katy McDevitt; great-grandchildren, David and Robbie Loveless, Liam McDevitt, and Sofia Meabe and great-great-grandchild, Logan Loveless.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Howard) Mynhier in 2013; his daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Robert Loveless; five sisters, Dorothy Shepherd, Flora Baldridge, Cora McLain, Clora Stidam, and Nora Keeney; two brothers, Leonard and Hobart Mynhier.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank cherished neighbors Mary Davis, Phylllis Lober & Jim Doumas, Michelle & Steve Blackburn, friends Patty & John Lewis & family, and all of Presley’s co-workers at Publix in Daytona Beach Shores for their friendship and support during the past 30 years.
Graveside services will be held in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby, Ohio on Friday July 3, 2015 at 12 noon with Reverend Chris Mason officiating. Calling hours will not be observed. Barkdull Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
