MANSFIELD, Ohio — Cookouts, picnics, and family gatherings suggest it will be a good weekend, and then on Monday, May 25, there will be an opportunity to pause and remember those veterans who gave their lives in service to our country. Five area cities or villages will hold parades and ceremonies Monday.

Which one will you attend?

Bellville: The parade starts at 11 a.m. American Legion members will begin their southbound march on Ogle and Main Street and end with a ceremony in the cemetery on Church Street. Their Grand Marshall is Dave Heichel, a longtime member of American Legion.

Butler: Their parade starts at 9 a.m. at Butler Elementary School and proceed down Morgan Street to Main Street. To conclude, a ceremony will be held in Butler Memorial Park.

Crestline: There will be a ceremony and parade beginning at the war memorial at the corner of N. Seltzer St. and Union St. and proceeding to Greenlawn Cemetery. The parade begins at 10 a.m.

Galion: Their parade starts at 10 a.m. Call American Legion Galion Post at 419-468-1208 for more information.

Lexington: The VFW post and Kiwanis Club will march from Clever Lane to Delaware Avenue and end with a ceremony in the cemetery where Lexington’s mayor will speak. The parade starts at 10 a.m.

Mansfield: Denny Hempfield, Parade Marshall, will lead Mansfield’s parade from the 5-way stop light on Park Avenue West to Central Park. There will be a special ceremony in Central Park. The parade starts at 10:30 a.m.

Shelby: Their parade will start at 10:30 a.m. and the city will have a Korean War Memorial will be dedicated at 2 p.m. in Roush Park.
