At the last Shelby Foundation board meeting, Attorney Frank Benham was named the new chairperson. Benham, a Shelby resident since 1979, has been with The Shelby Foundation since 2009 and has acted as its vice-chair since 2013. He has practiced law for the past 35 years and is a partner in the local firm of Benham & Ream, Co. LPA.
Dr. Theresa Roth, PhD wrapped up her two-year term as The Shelby Foundation board chairperson with an outstanding list of accomplishments, including significant financial growth with the foundation’s assets nearing $6 million, awarding more than $250,000 in 2014 to area nonprofits through the grant-making process, and becoming more visible in the community through social media and marketing efforts.
As board chair, Dr. Roth oversaw the organization of the first not-for-profit directors network luncheon, an end-of-year giving seminar, and the launching of The Shelby Foundation’s Facebook page.
Dr. Roth’s leadership in the community is a reflection of her professional leadership as vice president of OhioHealth MedCentral Shelby Hospital and chief operating officer at both Shelby and Mansfield hospitals. She oversees the operations at Shelby Hospital along with other service areas including an urgent care facility, occupational medicine clinic, rural health clinic, pain clinic, surgery center, home health / hospice and the several physician offices. She has experience as an information system management consultant collaborating with organizations across the nation to optimize their information technology.
She is a member of several professional nursing organizations including the Ohio Nurses Association, the Ohio Organization of Nurse Executives and the American College of Health Care Executives. She is a member of the Shelby Rotary and also serves on several local community boards.
She is married to her high school sweetheart, John Roth, and resides in Shelby. She is passionate about her family, her community, her profession of nursing, higher education and encouraging others to reach their potential.
