Virginia Ann Spreng Temple, 89, of Glenmont, passed away Saturday morning, May 9, 2015 in Emeritus at Hillenvale, Mt. Vernon. She was born Feb. 10, 1926 in Lake Twp., Ashland County, and was the daughter of the late Jacob and Edna (Bucy) Spreng. Virginia grew up on the family farm with enough siblings to make a baseball team, five brothers and four sisters, learning to work hard but also having fun. She expressed her joy of farming by working side by side with her husband for 63 years, from milking cows to driving the tractor while baling hay. Virginia loved visits from family and friends, whipping up delectable meals in no time and was famous for her molasses cookies and delicious pies. She loved her family and holding all the babies, grandchildren, great, and great-great grandchildren. Virginia was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Loudonville.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Harry Edward Temple, whom she married Nov. 24, 1948; a daughter, Deborah Kay (Bill) Edmister of Danville; three grandchildren: Colette (Todd) Hazen, Michele (Dave) Severns, and Garrett Edmister; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Janet Wulff and Jean Jones of Loudonville; and one brother, Gerald (Linda) Spreng of Loudonville. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers: Everett, Donald, John and Dave Spreng; and two sisters: Margie Remy and Mary Oswalt.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 12 at 11 a.m. in Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville conducted by Evangelist Gene Lilly. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Danville. Friends may call Tuesday morning from 10–11 a.m. in the funeral home.
