Donald “Snake/Digger/Smitty” Smith, 77, of Mansfield, died April 17, 2015. Born June 26, 1937 in Mansfield, he was the son of Harley and Edith (Wolf) Smith. Digger attended Mansfield Senior High School and went on to work in the construction industry for many years until he later started his own business, DR Smith Trenching. In his free time, Digger loved mushroom hunting and boating.
Surviving are his ex-wife, Sandra Smith; children, David Smith, Gary Smith, Cynthia Smith, and Bonnie Smith; grandchildren, Derek (Summer) Smith and Stephanie Kaye; great-grandson, Jayse Smith; sisters, Viola Pohl and Martha Jarvis; brother, Raymond Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, April 20, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will begin at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date.
