Ronald “Ron” V. Overley, 76, of Galion, went home to be with his Savior on Friday, April 10, 2015 at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield after an extended illness. Born August 11, 1938 in St. Mary’s, Ohio, he was the son of William Vane and Thressa Zents Overley.
He retired from Whirlpool as a model maker and project engineer after 28 years of service and had also worked for Tappan for 15 years and Hartman Electric for 5 years. He had built his home 38 years ago with friends and was proud of the fact that he still resided there. Ron attended the Quest for Truth Class at Berean Baptist Church. He enjoyed studying the Bible and was an avid follower of Les Feldick, talking to him frequently. He also enjoyed woodworking and fishing, but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 58 1/2 years, Phyllis Lodge Overley; two daughters, Debbie (Rex) Scott and Dianne (David) McIntire, all of Mansfield; a son, Bryan Overley of Mansfield; grandchildren, Jenny (Andy) Cotto and Keelie Scott, all of Mansfield; a great granddaughter, Macy Cotto and another great granddaughter, Sadie Grace Cotto, due in May.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his close friend and father figure, Harry “Pete” Morrison.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Steve McElhatten with additional visitation one hour prior to the service, from 10 – 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Berean Baptist Quest for Truth Class or Les Feldick Ministries, 30706 W. Lona Valley Road, Kinta, OK 74552.
