Parkinson’s disease, a chronic and progressive movement disorder, affects nearly one million people in the United States. Unfortunately, the cause of Parkinson’s is unknown and presently, there is no cure.

OhioHealth MedCentral Hospitals’ physical, occupational and speech therapists will provide three opportunities for the community to learn more about Parkinson’s Disease and about the Lee Silverman voice treatment (LSVT) BIG and LOUD therapeutic programs for patients suffering from Parkinson’s Disease:

+        April 8, 2 p.m. at the OhioHealth Wellness Complex, 1750 W. Fourth St., Mansfield

+        April 13, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Shelby Hospital, 199 W. Main St., Shelby

+        April 22, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mansfield Hospital, 335 Glessner Ave., Mansfield

Therapists will be on hand to offer functional screenings and answer questions. Informational packets, refreshments and a drawing will also be available.

LSVT® BIG and LOUD therapeutic programs are some of the most widely used treatments for disorders associated with Parkinson’s Disease. BIG corresponds with movement, while LOUD corresponds with speech and vocal loudness.
