MANSFIELD, Ohio – The North End Community Improvement Collaborative (NECIC) is offering Community Garden Grants of up to $300 to groups who are interested in starting or expanding a community garden in Richland County.

These grants are designed to connect neighbors, share best gardening practices, encourage residents to eat more fruits and vegetables, improve community health, expand educational and cultural opportunities, beautify blighted or vacant community spaces, and increase volunteerism.

The maximum award is $300, which can be used for garden beds, plants/seeds, educational programs, etc. See the application for a full list of eligible expenses and grant guidelines.

The application form can be downloaded at: http://www.necic-ohio.org/#19. Completed applications must be received by April 8 before 4 p.m.

The community garden grant program is supported by the City of Mansfield and the Fran and Warren Rupp Donor Advised Fund of the Richland County Foundation.
