MANSFIELD, Ohio – Franklin C. “Frank” Donato went to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, March 25, 2015 in his Mansfield home following a brief illness. He was 58.

He was born July 22, 1956 in Cleveland to parents Frank F. & Daisy B. (Coon) Donato. After he was graduated from Ontario High School with the class of 1974, he furthered his education by earning his bachelor’s degree from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.

Frank worked for many Mansfield companies over the years, including: the Mansfield News Journal, Westinghouse, and Pioneer National Latex. A young lady named Dawn Spalding caught his eye and the pair soon married on June 6, 1997.

A stickler for detail, Frank had an incredible memory and a generous spirit. He could often be found rooting for Cleveland sports teams, OSU sports, and local high school teams. He thoroughly enjoyed golfing, bowling, and listening to contemporary Christian music.

Frank was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Mansfield.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 18 years, The Rev. Dawn Donato of Mansfield; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Rosemarie & Robert Rupel and Joanie & Rob Sells all of Mt. Vernon; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by a brother Michael Donato, and a favorite canine companion (she was a red Doberman), Hallelujah.

A memorial service honoring his life will be held 1 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2015 in St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1262 Ashland Rd in Mansfield, and friends are invited to call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Rev. Pastor Bonnie Peltomaa will officiate and inurnment will be held at a later date.

For contributions in his memory, make checks payable to the American Lung Association or St. Timothy Lutheran Church and bring to the service or send to the funeral home: P.O. Box 3085, Mansfield, Ohio 44904.
