MANSFIELD, Ohio – The Mansfield Symphony Youth Strings, under the direction of Matthew Domka, will perform their spring concert on Sunday, March 15 at 4 p.m. at the Renaissance Theatre.
The Youth Strings will perform “Capriccio” by Larry Clark, “Dance of the Harlequins” by Larry Clark, “Desert Sands” by Soon Hee Newbold, along with other selections.

Youth Strings conductor Matt Domka is no stranger to the music community in Mansfield. Domka started violin at the age of seven under the tutelage of Elva Newdome and played in the Mansfield Youth Symphony under the direction of Eddie Chiudioni.
He participated yearly in the OMEA and Ribbon festivals as well as the occasional OMEA competition in both violin and piano.
Domka graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelors of Music Education with a specialization in string pedagogy.
While at The Ohio State University, he continued his violin studies with Professor Michael Davis and studied string pedagogy with Dr. Robert Gillespie. He also played under the baton of Professor Marshall Haddock. He has taught in the public school system as well as in the private setting.
This is Domka’s second year as director of the Mansfield Symphony Youth Strings.
The Youth Strings program is an education initiative of the Mansfield Symphony and part of the Mechanics Bank Education Series. It serves over 50 students in grades 6-10 from Richland and surrounding counties.
