Richard L. "Dick" Winbigler

Richard L. “Dick” Winbigler, 74, of Mansfield, died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Mill Creek Nursing Home in Galion. Born November 27, 1940 in Mansfield, he was the son of Lloyd and Helen (Leonard) Winbigler. A graduate of St. Peter’s High School, Dick was also a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and retired from PPG as a glass inspector. 

He was generous and kind to everyone and would “give the shirt off his back” for anyone in need. Dick enjoyed playing the accordion and piano and also bowled in various leagues in Galion. He could often be found smoking his pipe and drinking coffee, usually scratching on an instant lottery ticket or snacking on his various goodies of coconut cream pie, Buckeye Bakery cookies, vanilla ice cream with butterscotch dope, maple eggs, or donuts. Dick also loved attending his kids and grandkids various sporting events and spending time with his nephew, Mike Barbao. 

He is survived by his daughters, Susan (Chad) Sunnucks of Ontario and Mimi (Steve) Bishop of Sylvania, OH; sons, Richard L. Winbigler, Jr. of Clarkston, MI and Joe Winbigler of Crestline; grandchildren, Richard L. Winbigler III of Oklahoma, Alex Sunnucks, Jr. of Richmond, VA, Jacob Winbigler of Lafayette, IN, Danielle Sunnucks of Wooster, Erin Bishop of Columbus, Matthew Bishop of Sylvania, OH, and Eve Sunnucks of Ontario; sister, Barbara (Ron) Barbao of Mansfield; five nieces and nephews; and former wife and friend, Mildred (Fullenlove) Winbigler of Crestline. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Wood and the nurses and staff at Mill Creek Nursing Home as well as the staff of Homecare Matters Hospice. 

Friends may call Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Ontario. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 27, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Homecare Matters Hospice, Richland County Humane Society, or Crawford County Humane Society.
