Willeen E. Heuss, 92, of Lucas, passed away Tuesday evening, February 10, 2015, at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home. She was born February 19, 1922, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Bert and Vertie (Crall) Pugh.
After graduating from high school, she went to work at Westinghouse Corp. for several years. She married the love of her life, Charles Heuss, on May 19, 1943, at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. She then took time off from the workforce to raise her children and take care of her family. She returned to work in the 1960s at Mansfield Plumbing Products, where she stayed until she retired to care for her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and baking pies.
She is survived by three children, Charleen Heuss, Larraine Ashcraft, and William (Cathy) Heuss; five grandchildren, Bethany Biddle, Mike, William C.L., Amanda, Elaina, and Isaac; two great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; three brothers, Cloyd, John and Harold (Arlu) Pugh; five sisters, Leota (Frank) Berkey, Valma (Henry) Hendrickson, Marie (Paul) Oswalt, Dorothy (James) Burden and Janice (Ted) Echelberger; and a grandson, Matt Biddle.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2015, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. The funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Matthew Pond officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Central Ohio.
