Raymond I. Dickson

Raymond I. Dickson, 92, of Mansfield, died February 5, 2015 at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield. Born January 29, 1923 in Mansfield, he was the son of Rufus and Helen Dickson. 

A World War II veteran, Raymond was stationed with the Fourth Fighter Group in England as an airplane mechanic for P-51s. He retired from Westinghouse in 1982 after 37 years and was a member of United Methodist Church in Olivesburg. Raymond was a former Boy Scout Commissioner and Troop Leader as well as a 4-H Leader. He loved camping and traveled with his RV from Maine to Alaska with is camping club. Raymond and his wife were snowbirds for many years traveling to Florida. He was also a member of Coachmen Chapter 20 for many years and enjoyed cooking, and woodworking. 

He is survived by his son, Alan (Rebecca) Dickson; grandchildren, Lori (Rob) Dickson Richter and Scott (Sheila) Dickson; and two great grandchildren, Ashley and Anthony. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Washburn Dickson and son, Gary Eugene Dickson. 

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. Military services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad will be held at the funeral home following the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
