Peggy J. (Cyrus) Luikart, 80, of Jeromesville, died peacefully Saturday evening, Jan. 24, 2015, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 16, 1934, in Milton, West Virginia, one of six children of  the late Lora K. (Johnson) Cyrus and Wilson C. Cyrus.

Peggy graduated from South Charleston High School in West Virginia. Throughout the years, she enjoyed farming with her husband and had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her many dogs. Peggy retired from Richland Bank in 1994 after 20 years of service where she worked as secretary to the mortgage loan department. After retirement, she and her husband Mel, spent the not so wonderful Ohio winter months in sunny Florida. She loved traveling in their motor home with her husband and pets, who always came along for the ride. Her favorite travel destinations were Florida and the western United States.

Peggy was a sweet, kind soul and her loving nature will live on in her family and friends. 

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Mel Luikart; four children, Karen (Burlin) Howard of Speedwell, TN, Vicki (Dennis) Spangler of Mansfield, Jeff (Debbie) Robertson of Mansfield and Mike (Emily) Luikart of Canton, GA; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Carol (John) Corns of Churchville, VA, Mary (Des) Shuert of Grand Rapids, MI and Jerri (Ken) Gainer of Huntington, WV; brother-in-law, Emmett Mennetti of Lexington; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her identical twin sister, Patsy Mennetti and brother, Bill (Pat) Cyrus.

A memorial service conducted by Pastor Layton Broome will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 at 3 p.m. in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m.Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio or the Humane Societies of Ashland or Richland Counties.
