The sky is not the limit for the Mansfield Art Center’s (MAC) first exhibitions of 2015. MAC will open the year with two exhibitions, “Dreamers & Myth Makers – A Pathway to the Sky” in the main gallery and “Stillness & Light” in the first floor gallery.
The exhibitions open Jan. 25 and run through March 8.
In the main gallery exhibition, Ohio artists Todd Camp and Mindy Wilson Duncan join forces to showcase their individual interpretive visions with lively engaging artworks. Camp’s paintings are characterized by an energetic use of color and brush strokes while Duncan layers objects from teabags to sticks into layered collages on underlying paintings to form a story.
In the first floor gallery exhibition, Oswalt’s paintings draw viewers into contemplative moments through his unique interpretation of city scapes, landscapes and nature studies — mostly derived from local scenes.
“Dreamers & Mythmakers – A Pathway to the Sky” and “Stillness & Light” open Sunday, Jan. 25, with a reception from 2-4 p.m. Light hors-d’oeuvres will be served.
The public is invited to discuss the works with Camp, Duncan and Oswalt at an Artists’ and Friends’ Night Out 6-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to share. Reservations are appreciated for that event.
The Mansfield Art Center is located at 700 Marion Avenue, Mansfield, and may be reached at 419-756-1700.
