MANSFIELD, Ohio–Joe and Mary’s Market and Deli at 162 Sturges Ave. was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday morning at approximately 11 a.m. This is the second time this month that the market was robbed.

Sgt. Ken Carroll with the Mansfield Police Department described the robber as a black male, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet 1 inch tall and 150-180 pounds. The robber was dressed in all black, wearing sweatpants, a sweatshirt and ski mask.

When he entered the business, he pointed a handgun at one of the employees, demanding money, Carroll said. After taking an undisclosed amount of money, the robber demanded more money.

The robber fled southbound from the rear of the market on foot. Witnesses said they saw the suspect cross Glessner Avenue, but his whereabouts are currently unknown. The investigation to identify and locate the suspect is ongoing.

No one at the scene was injured.

According to Carroll, Joe and Mary’s Market was robbed Saturday, Jan. 10. He noted, “The employees seem to think this may be the same subject who got them last time, but that’s not 100 percent sure.”

Anyone who may have information about the subject who robbed the market on Jan. 10 is encouraged to call 419-755-9470, and anyone who may have information about the most recent robbery is encouraged to call 419-755-9729.
