Wendell H. Shaull passed away peacefully in Columbus, OH at Hospice on Jan. 16, 2015 at age 93, eight days shy of his 94th birthday. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Marie (McCormick) Shaull; parents, Marion and Clara Shaull; sister, Helen Hecht; and brothers, Robert and Marion II. Wendell is survived by his daughter, Jeanne Shaull Bombick Robinson; son, Richard Shaull; grandchildren, Matt (Tami) Bombick, Brett (Tricia) Bombick, Erica (Daniel) Griffith, and Brandon Shaull; and two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Taylor Bombick.
Born in Mansfield, Ohio on January 24, 1921, Wendell was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School and served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He made a career as a sales representative and was employed for 30 years with the Cleveland wholesale food broker, Marquardt Bros. & Co. Inc. He also invested in real estate.
Wendell was a member of the Liederkranz in Mansfield where he enjoyed socializing and playing pinochle. His hobbies included billiards, horseshoes, fishing, playing guitar and organ, and he was a regular on the fairways at Mansfield’s Twin Lakes Golf Course. Wendell loved life and enjoyed cooking and grilling for family events.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 23, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Road, Ontario. Family and friends are invited to visit for one hour prior to the service, from 12-1 p.m. Military services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail will be held at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
