Roger D. Landon, age 63, of Galion passed courageously and peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on January 16, 2015 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born in Marion on August 14, 1951 to the late Hershel and Mary Jane (Brown) Landon. Roger was also preceded in death by his sister; Kay (Landon) Lucas, a step-son; Todd Everly and father-in-laws; Dick Oborn and Walter Morehart.
After graduating from Cardington High School, he attended Mansfield State College and graduated with a degree in Computer Science. Roger was employed by Galion Dresser and retired when the business closed completing 25 years of faithful service. He then was a salesman for ABC Appliance warehouse for 8 years retiring in 2013. Roger had also owned and operated Roger’s Sports Shop in Galion for 10 years.
He was an avid sports fan, favoring football the most, especially Ohio State. Roger and his wife also enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, Las Vegas and Louisiana and were occasionally accompanied by his son and daughter-in-law. Along with playing cards with his many friends, he also collected, sold and traded sports cards. During his son’s early years, Roger coached various baseball teams.
Survivors include his wife; Lana (Oborn) Landon to which he had been happily married for 10 years, his son; Travis (Elizabeth) Landon: 2 brothers; Tracy (Margie) Landon and Jeff (Krista) Landon: 4 step-children; Gwen (Everly) Earhart, Troy (Cassandra Tanner) Everly, Scott (Susan) Antkowiak and Blaine Smith; 2 grandchildren; Jentsen and Deklyn Landon; 10 step-grandchildren, Kyle (Kassandra) Stoffer, Natalie Stoffer, Sarah Hines, Lucas Earhart and Gage, Grant and Grace Everly and Lahna Nelson, and Brax and Braum Antkowiak; 2 step-great-grandchildren; Liam & Izabelle Stoffer; his mother-in-law; Mary Lou Morehart and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of Roger’s life for close family and friends held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. at his home.
