Lucinda "Cindy" Porter

Lucinda “Cindy” Porter, age 90, resident of Park Village, Shelby died Wednesday January 14, 2015 at her home.

Born February 20, 1924 in Wayne, West Virginia to Walter and Bertha (Napier) Queen she had been a resident of West Virginia moving to Shelby in 1962. A member of the Baptist faith, she was homemaker and was formerly employed with the VFW, The Hungry Hound, and Bowsher’s Bakery.

Survivors include two sons Virgil (Patsy) Porter of Galion, Mike (Cheryl) Porter of Norwalk; one daughter Alice (Ralph) Cassity of Sun City, FL; one sister, Lucy Farley of Columbus; 18 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Porter, Sr. in 1971; two sons, Wendell and Bernard Porter, one daughter, Martha Ann Pocious; and six brothers and two sisters Lois Young and Haney McNeil .

Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Saturday January 17, 2015 at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Pastor Travis McKenzie of Bethel Freewill Baptist Church will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 9:30 to 11:30 AM.
