Roseto Event Venue: Restoring a historic space for connection and celebration

Starting a new business in a small city like Mansfield as a newcomer can be intimidating, to say the least. But that didn’t stop Shereen Tamsen, owner of Roseto Event Venue, from taking on the challenge of not only starting a business, but also renovating a historic downtown building.

Originally from Long Island, New York, Shereen relocated to Mansfield and was surprised to find that such a charming downtown had so many vacant spaces. Having grown up surrounded by quaint, locally owned shops, she saw immense potential in the town.

She quickly fell in love with the downtown coffee shop, tea shop, local bars, and—most of all—the close-knit community. Deciding to contribute to the area’s revitalization momentum, she jumped at the opportunity when 23 North Main Street became available.

The journey was far from easy, involving years of hard work, personal investment, and inevitable setbacks. Yet every time doubts crept in, key individuals stepped up to help her move forward. She took those supportive connections as a sign to keep going, never taking the community’s backing for granted.

Fellow downtown business owner and friend, Reneta Music, put it best: “You have to be bold, brave, strong and fierce to do what you have done. You are a badass for coming to Mansfield and creating an event center downtown where you know no one!”

The venue’s name stems from the “Roseto Effect”—a phenomenon based on studies demonstrating the profound impact of strong community relationships on health and longevity. Holding a degree in naturopathic medicine, Shereen genuinely believes that human connection plays an essential role in overall well-being. 

Raised in a culture of hospitality, her primary goal is to ease the stress of hosting life’s major milestones. Rather than operating as a large venue with dispersed staff, Shereen works directly with clients through every step of the process, backed by behind-the-scenes support from her family.

While she is thrilled about upcoming city developments, Shereen wants locals to know that her renovation project is fully complete and ready for the community to enjoy. The beautifully renovated interior seamlessly blends historic charm with a clean, modern aesthetic, filling a distinct need for a versatile gathering space in downtown Mansfield. 

To date, Roseto has hosted gatherings ranging from 50 to 300 guests, including weddings, graduation parties, birthdays, ceremonies of life, company fundraisers, educational panels, a Mother’s Day Market, and a Ladies Night. 

Although downtown construction has been a temporary nuisance, she is grateful for the city’s improvements to the plaza directly in front of her venue, which will soon serve as a vibrant feature complementing her vision of a central downtown hub.

The community is invited to experience the space firsthand during “Stomp Out Human Trafficking,” a free line dancing event on September 4 from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM, hosted in collaboration with Rubies Women’s Group and several local vendors. 

The event will include a brief educational presentation from Rubies on human trafficking and their efforts to bring awareness to the issue in the community, while keeping the evening focused on fun, connection, and celebration. It’s a great opportunity to experience the space and celebrate another step in downtown Mansfield’s continued revitalization.
