James “Jim” Hoblet

James “Jim” Hoblet, age 68, passed away Tuesday evening, January 13, 2015 in Ohio Health MedCentral Hospital in Mansfield.

He was born May 15, 1946 in Van Wert to parents Burton & Donna (Grant) Hoblet. He was graduated from Crestview High School with the class of 1964 as the first student in the school’s history to graduate with five major subjects. In 1971 he was graduated from Marshall University with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Psychology, and never stopped rooting for Marshall sports.

Jim worked for Standard Oil for many years before moving to Knoxville to work as a Real Estate Broker. He moved to Mansfield in 1985 and was the Sales Manager for the former Herald Inventory Service (now known as WIS Inventory).

He was a longtime member of the Lexington-Shelby Elks Lodge No. 2554 and the Mansfield Liederkranz.

He is survived by his loving wife Rebecca “Becky” Hoblet of Mansfield, whom he married on Valentine’s Day 1986; his three daughters and a son-in-law: Lisa Hoblet of Knoxville, TN, Julie & Larry McAfee of Madison, AL, and Cathy Switzer of Columbus; six grandchildren: Natalie, Connor, Levi, Chase, Haley, and Sydney; a sister and brother-in-law Susan & Gary Miller of Indian Lake; a brother Brent (Renee) Hoblet of Van Wert; a sister-in law Jan Hoblet of Van Wert; a nephew Ben Hoblet; and Harley, his beloved cat.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Randy Hoblet.

His family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Lexington Court Care Center for their loving care to Jim throughout the years.

The Lexington-Shelby Elks Lodge No. 2554 will hold a brief service to begin calling hours at 4 p.m. and friends may call 4-7 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2015 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral service honoring his life will begin at 7 p.m. officiated by Celebrant Jerry Wilson. Burial will occur Saturday, January 17, 2015 and friends are welcome to meet at the graveside at 12 noon in Convoy I. O. O. F. Cemetery near Van Wert.

Contributions in his memory to the Lexington-Shelby Elks Lodge No. 2554 may be made at the funeral home.
