Gerald E. Fetter, 92, of Galion, went to sleep peacefully Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Magnolia Terrace, Galion with his wife of 72 years at his side.
Gerald was born in Leesville, on September 13, 1922 to the late Adam and Gladys (Dewalt) Fetter. He married his high school sweetheart Virginia R. Williams on March 22, 1942 and she survives him.
Gerald was employed by Galion Dresser as a Machinist Foreman and retired after 45 years of service. He was a member of the Galion Lodge #414 Free & Accepted Mason. Gerald was a member of Calvary United Church of Christ, Crestline where he dedicated many years of service as a Deacon, Elder, and Sunday school teacher and was a member of the building committee. Gerald was a good, quiet man who loved life and his family. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing every day after his retirement. He loved all sports.
He is survived by his daughters, Sharon and Neal Hornaday, Judy and Dan Kirby, and Vicky and Ken Krauss, his grandchildren Stacy and Bill Hamel, J.R. and April Eyler, Bart and Mary Eyler, Alyssa Suter and Kortney and Dan Hambin, his great-grandchildren Zach and Lauren Eyler, Ethan and Evan Suter and Knox Eyler, and his sisters-in-law Rosie Fetter and Margaret Fetter.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Eldon and Maynard Fetter.
Friends may call Sunday, January 4, 2015 from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North Galion. Funeral services will follow at 5 p.m. with Rev. Gary Proietti officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Fairview Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary United Church of Christ in care of the funeral home.
