John H. “Jack” Pollock

John H. “Jack” Pollock, age 78, of Mansfield passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in Ashland Samaritan Hospital following a short illness.

He was born March 6, 1936 in Mansfield the son of Howard and Lanora (Houston) Pollock and graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1954. Following high school, Jack attended Ohio University from which he graduated in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science.

On April 29, 1961 he married Mary Ann Bollinger with whom he celebrated 53 years of commitment.

Jack returned to Richland County working at the former Ohio Brass for 23 years. He founded and was employed at Mansfield Ferrous Casting, and retired from the City of Mansfield as the Director of Economic Development in 1998.

A patriot, Jack served the Ohio Air National Guard 179th Airlift Wing as a member of the 164th Airlift Squadron.

Blessed with a servant’s heart, Jack was very active supporting numerous Mansfield community organizations including the Board of Trustees of Kingwood Center, the Richland County Foundation, Harmony House and the Mansfield Reformatory Preservation Society, where he was currently serving as treasurer.

Jack attended St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

He will be greatly missed by his devoted, loving family including his wife Mary Ann of Mansfield, two daughters and sons-in-law Dianne and Dwayne Clark of Little Rock, Arkansas and Debbie and Dave Mangan of Mansfield; two sons and daughters-in-law John and Susan Pollock and Tom and Jody Pollock all of Mansfield; seven grandchildren Chloe Clark, A.J. and David Mangan, Jade and Jack Pollock, and Katie and Keith Pollock, extended family and a host of friends.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a brother David Pollock.

Friends may call Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 2-5 pm in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home (Formerly Finefrock Funeral Home) where a memorial service honoring the life of John H. “Jack” Pollock will follow at 5 pm. The Rev. David Root will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in Mansfield Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in memory of Jack may be made to the Richland County Foundation for Economic Development.
