Marty L. Graszl, 78, of Mansfield, passed away early Sunday morning, December 28, 2014, after a 10-month battle with cancer at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born September 6, 1936, to the late Mary (Reiter) and Lee Lamberton.
Marty worked as the office manager for her husband, at the family business Tom Graszl Roofing, for many years. Marty was an amazing mother and her grandchildren were the lights of her life. She was devoted to her family and never missed a grandchild’s sporting event. She always gave of herself unselfishly and was there with great advice or a loving hug whenever it was needed. Marty maintained a large garden and used the vegetables and fruits to create delicious dishes for her family and friends.
Marty was a very active member of First Christian Church, and had many friends both in church and in the community. She enjoyed traveling to Florida and Arizona to escape the Ohio winters.
She is survived by her loving husband, Tom Graszl, with whom she shared almost 55 years of marriage. She also leaves behind two children, John (Lisa) Graszl and Diane (Brian) Rice; a daughter-in-law, Jane Graszl; four grandchildren, Tommie and Daniel Graszl, J.J. (Becca) Rice and Jolene (Don) Zehner; one great-grandchild on the way; a sister, Bobbie (Larry) Brown; a brother-in-law, Frank (Ruthanne) Graszl, Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Roberts and Barb Graszl; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Jeff Graszl; brother and sister-in-law, Dave and Sue Lamberton; and sister, Betty Lamberton.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2014, in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service conducted by Rev. Greg Bibler will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 10 a.m. with additional visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Burial in Mansfield Cemetery will immediately follow. Memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
