Margie Nell Shumway, 82, of Mansfield, died Friday afternoon, December 26, 2014, in Mifflin Care Center. She was born May 7, 1932, in Union County, North Carolina to the late Bonnie R. (Macrorie) and William Robert Terry.

A people person, Margie was known as the “Goodwill Ambassador” at Mifflin Care Center and took turns visiting all of the other residents. She enjoyed leading numerous committees at the nursing home. Margie was formerly employed at Hartman Electric. She was a member of Ontario United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles and relaxing on the beach.

She is survived by a son, Jeff Shumway; granddaughter, Kelly (Michael) Hansen; great-granddaughter, Celeste Hansen; three brothers, David (Geraldine) Terry, John “Butch/Jake” (Brenda) Terry, Ray Neal (Denise) Terry; two sisters, Ailene (David) Walker, Carol (Bob) Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Jeff’s father, Donald H. Shumway; siblings, Bobbie Terry, and Polly (Terry) and Jim Gathings; and her daughter-in-law, Debra Shumway.

The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2014, in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Ontario United Methodist Church with Rev. Peg Welch officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
