MADISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio – The Madison Board of Education unanimously voted Wednesday at their regular board meeting to officially terminate varsity girls basketball coach Brian Carr.

Carr was suspended in early December after pleading no contest in August to a charge of attempted negligent assault in Shelby Municipal Court. He was originally arrested on domestic violence charges.

As reported in a previous Richland Source story, court documents show Carr was fined $200 and sentenced to 30 days in jail with all 30 days suspended as long as there were no violations during a two-year probationary period. Carr was also ordered to undergo anger management counseling after pleading to the lesser charge.

“We feel that with those charges, we didn’t need him around our kids,” said Board President Jeff Meyers.

Carr did not have any other position within the school district.

Assistant coach Brian Davis has been acting as head coach since Carr’s suspension, Meyers said.
