A four-vehicle crash closed down part of Park Avenue West on Friday evening, with unknown injuries to three passengers as of Friday.
“It looks like one of the vehicles might have gone left of center and struck a couple vehicles that were going westbound on Park Avenue,” said Sgt. Stephen Brane of the Mansfield Police Department. “So far we’ve got four vehicles involved.”
A green Ford F-150, red Oldsmobile, and silver Honda Civic were still at the scene of the accident in front of Miracle Mile Motors on Friday. An unidentified white SUV was also involved; police stated the SUV suffered minor damages to the front end and was still drivable.
Brane stated a couple people were transported to the hospital with injuries, but the extent of the injuries were unknown at the time. The names of the individuals transported to the hospital were not known.
“As of right now it’s an evolving situation,” said Brane.
The driver of the green Ford F-150 Milo Sgambellone was up and moving around at the scene of the accident. Sgambellone stated the driver of the red Oldsmobile first started the accident.
“I looked up and he was on the wrong side of the road and going to hit the silver car head-on,” he said. “The silver car swerved and he hit (the silver car’s) door and then smashed into me.”
Bob Roth and his wife Judy Roth were driving their silver Honda Civic west on Park Avenue toward their home in Ontario.
“And this car was coming at us, in the middle lane coming toward us,” said Roth. “It was swerving from the middle lane, hit us, and knocked us into another car.”
Roth identified the car that swerved into the opposite lane as the red Oldsmobile. He said the Oldsmobile hit another car after hitting them.
“It was zooming. I don’t know how fast he was going, but he was going fast,” said Roth.
Judy Roth was operating the vehicle at the time of the accident. She was taken to OhioHealth Med Central.
Witnesses stated there were three passengers in the red car, an adult male and female and a child. Mansfield Fire Department were forced to cut the two adults out of their seats in the front of the car. All three passengers were moving after the crash.
“I asked the EMT and he said everybody was OK,” said Sgambellone. “I’m going to be sore, but so far so good.”
