Nelson F. Kilgore

Nelson F. Kilgore, 77, of Loudonville, died Tuesday morning, December 9, 2014 in Ohio Health Med Central Hospital, Mansfield after a long battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 5, 1937 in Mansfield and was the son of Floyd and Lucille (French) Kilgore. He had lived in the Mansfield and Loudonville areas most of his life. Nelson was an Ohio Air National Guard veteran, serving in the 164th Squadron at Mansfield Lahm airport from 1956-1959. Nelson was a career truck driver, and had owned pawn shops. He enjoyed flying his own plane and racing sprint cars. Nelson was a member of Higgins Post #88 American Legion and Ashland Eagles. 

Nelson is survived by his wife, Nena (Castaneda) Kilgore, whom he married July 17, 2007; two sons: Nelson (Beth) Kilgore Jr. of Mansfield and Jesse (Genevieve) Kilgore of North Ridgeville; five daughters: Linnel (Mike) McClain of Mansfield, Brenda (Brad) Kimes of Mansfield, Christine (Marshall) Hill of Tyler, TX, Treesa Kilgore of Virginia Beach, VA and Lisa Kilgore-Martinez of Mansfield; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Kilgore of Washington CH, Ohio; and a sister, Karen Robinette of Mesa, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Nicholas James Cole in 1978. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday evening, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, with Father Vincent Hawk of St. Peter Catholic Church, Loudonville officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday Dec. 12 from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help defray costs or to the Ashland County Cancer Assoc., 380 East Fourth St., Ashland, OH 44805.
