Richard A. “Shamu” Crossman, Jr., 53, of Shelby, died Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Ohio Health MedCentral/Shelby Hospital, Shelby, after an apparent heart attack.
Rick was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on April 18, 1961 to Richard and Diane (Zellefrow) Crossman. His mother passed away on April 10, when Rick was eight years old. Rick was raised by his father Dick Crossman, Sr., who survives him with his wife Cynthia in Wesley Chapel, FL.
Shamu graduated from Crestline High School, Class of 1981. He was a member of the Richland County Coon Hunters Club. Rick has worked at HiStat in Lexington for the past 2 years. Rick became a member of the Arcana Lodge #272, Crestline in February 28, 1991 and is now a member of Galion Lodge #414, Free & Accepted Masons, Galion. He was very proud to have played with the Shelby Blues semi-pro football team. Shamu was also known locally as an umpire, umpiring both high school and Little League baseball games. Rick loved to golf. He loved motorcycles, especially his Harley. Rick was a proud father of his children.
He is also survived by his son, Nickolaus “Lil Shamu” Crossman and Abrigayle Lowe, Lucas, and his daughter, Emily D. Crossman, Shelby. Rick is survived by April Enzor, his significant other and partner of fourteen years. He was looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild in February, 2015 his grandson Bentley Allen Crossman.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Edward Crossman.
Friends may call Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, 223 W. Main Street, Crestline, OH, 44827. Masonic services will be held at 5:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 4, 2014 with Pastor Michael A. Corwin officiating at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home.
