On Saturday, the Mansfield Christian Flames and Galion Tigers met in Galion for a high school girls matchup. The Lady Flames won the season opener 38-26.

The Flames went up 18-11 at half. Galion put up an 11-6 run in the third to close the gap to 24-22. The Flames dropped a big 14-4 run in the fourth to finish out their 12 point win.

Top three scorers for the game all came from MCS. Charlinta Adkins led the Flames with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 9 steals. She was followed by Katie Ritz and Allie Maiyer who both contributed 9 points.

MCS head coach J.R. Wilson said, “This was a big win for our program. Our girls came out focused and brought intensity. Galion is coached very well and they didn’t give up. I’m just proud of our ladies staying committed to our defense and being physical. Its nice to start the season off with a win.”

“We know its a long season, but we are just taking one game at a time.”
