Dudley D. “Sonny” Steele, Jr., 71, of rural Perrysville, died Saturday afternoon, November 15, 2014 at his home after a brief illness. Sonny was born July 24, 1943 in Ashland, the son of the late Dudley D. and Lavera (Finley) Steele Sr. He was a 1961 graduate of Butler High School and had lived in the Perrysville area most of his life. He was a mold maker for Mansfield Plumbing Products before retiring in 1992 and had also worked for Western-Southern Life Insurance and Bright’s Nursery. Sonny enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseshoes, woodworking and building almost anything.
He is survived by his son, Brian (Rachael Miller) Steele of rural Perrysville; his daughter, Robin Steele of Loudonville; 4 grandchildren, Justin Meininger, Jordan Hicks, Nick Yoxtheimer and Patrick Yoxtheimer; 4 sisters: Delphine Bright of Ashland, Arlene Kline of Perrysville, Janice Kline of Butler, and Laverna Kreski of Mansfield; and former wives: Martha Steele of Ashland and Susie Steele of Lodi. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter: Amy “Tadpole” Steele, 2 sisters: Marge Brokaw and Wanda Hootman; and his best friend, Rollo “Bud” Fuller.
Friends may call Saturday, Dec. 6, from 1-3 PM in Vermillion Baptist Church, rural Perrysville, where a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 3:00 PM with Rev. Jim Luedeman officiating.
