Despite the chilly weather, the women’s clothing store Maurices received a warm welcome back to the Ontario area Friday morning by city officials and community members during the grand opening event.
Ontario Mayor Randy Hutchinson, Economic Development Chairman for the City Mark Weidemyre, State Rep. Mark Romanchuk, as well as members of the Richland Area Chamber of Commerce and the Ontario Growth Corporation were among those in attendance.
“We welcome back Maurices to the area. Years ago they were at the mall, so it’s nice to have them come back,” said the mayor.
Store Manager Josie Keefus appreciated the warm welcome and said, “We’re excited to be back.”
A Maurices store used to be located in the Richland Mall about 23 years ago. Maurices is now neighbors to rue21 and ULTA Beauty, which are all housed in the recently constructed Ontario Towne Center Outlet at 2279 Walker Lake Road.
Keefus said the store offers mostly fashion apparel, shoes and accessories for purchase. The hours of operation are Monday – Saturday from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
The store is currently fully staffed with 11 employees. Keefus said interested applicants are always able to apply online.
Keefus also noted that Maurices plays an active role in the community. “We do a lot of what we call ‘hometown pride,’” she said. “So we plan on participating in Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society.” She added that they hope to participate in other activities, such as blood mobiles, clothing drives, and toy drives.
