The National Diversity Council has selected OhioHealth MedCentral President Jean Halpin as one of the 15 Most Powerful and Influential Women of Ohio. The winners were chosen for leadership excellence and commitment to community well-being.

Since becoming president in March, Halpin has reached out to local physicians and our hospital associates, as well as communities in the greater Mansfield area. She brought a wealth of experience in hospital administration with her. She has been with OhioHealth for the last 22 years, most recently as Chief Operations Officer for OhioHealth Neighborhood Care. She helped OhioHealth build and open its Westerville Medical Campus in 2008 and oversaw its expansion in 2010 as director of operations.

The Westerville Chamber of Commerce named her its Business  Person of the Year in2010. Halpin chaired the chamber’s board of directors in 2013.

Celebration of Lights ushers in holiday season

A bright spot on the OhioHealth MedCentral events calendar are the annual Celebration of Lights ceremonies which usher in the holiday season at Mansfield and Shelby hospitals. The public is welcome to attend.

The Celebration of Lights is a fundraising project conducted by the Mansfield Hospital Auxiliary and the Shelby Hospital Guild. Contributions may be made at the corporate or individual level. Stop by the hospital gift shops in Mansfield or Shelby to purchase a light.

Mansfield Hospital’s Nov. 19 lighting ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. in the main lobby. The switch will be flipped to simultaneously light up thousands of white lights on trees on the hospital grounds. The commemorative lights to honor a loved one or mark a special occasion starting at $10 each.

Shelby’s lights will be turned on Nov. 22 at 5:30 p.m. in the community’s Central Park. Lights may be purchased for $5 or more at Shelby Hospital’s gift shop.

The lights will remain through the holiday season to greet patients, as well as visitors.
