Fans of Buffalo Wild Wings in Richland County can finally get their fix of the restaurant’s famous hand-spun wings at a new location, with the official opening of Buffalo Wild Wings on Lexington-Springmill Road in Ontario.

Members of the Ontario community as well as a large group of restaurant staff were on hand Monday, Nov. 3 to mark the opening of “B-Dubs” with a ribbon cutting, ready to receive customers by their 11 a.m. opening time. Ontario Growth Association Director Mark Weidemyre complimented the new restaurant after sampling some of the food at a VIP event Saturday night.

“Excellent, great food, and I like the new bar area with all the television sets, it gives you a sports overload,” said Weidemyre with a laugh. “We’re excited to have them here.”

According to franchise owner Ken Brown, the new Buffalo Wild Wings location is approximately 750 square feet larger than its previous location on West Fourth Street in Ontario. The Lexington-Springmill location features sleek flat screen televisions and state-of-the-art sound equipment, as well as new furniture and carpeting and wall decorations featuring Richland County sports teams.

“It’s a brand-new freestanding building and we think it’s going to be much bigger than what we’ve seen in our remodels,” said Brown. “For the last couple years we’ve been looking for the right site in the market, and I think we’ve hit a homerun here where we’re at today.”

Ontario Mayor Randy Hutchinson also previewed the new restaurant on Saturday evening, and noted this is the first Buffalo Wild Wings built from the ground up.

“The nice thing is parking, that was the only thing that suffered at the other location,” said Hutchinson. “BW3’s has been around for a while but it’s very nice to have them in a new location.”

The new Buffalo Wild Wings location will also offer 233 indoor seats, with an additional 24 seats available on the outdoor patio. Brown stated the entire staff from the West Fourth Street location was transferred to the new location, with an additional 35 to 40 new hires.

“We’ve been in the city now for about 12 years, and we’re very excited to be here,” said Brown. “This is a great opportunity for our employees and our community, and we’re very excited for what the future holds for us.”
