ONTARIO– Who doesn’t love a new dog-friendly green space right in their hometown? The Friends of Maize Memorial Dog Park along with others are working hard at creating just that and are well on their way with fundraising, planning and other fun projects for the Maize Memorial Dog Park that will be built in Marshall Park in Ontario.

Local businesses, individuals and the community have come together to help raise over $3,000 so far towards fencing. Some of these sponsors include Linda’s Mobile Grooming Palace, Richland Bank, State Representative Mark Romanchuk, Forgotten Felines of Richland County, STOP the Overpopulation of Animals, Thomas Electric, PurseSnickety, Furkid Creations, Lyndsy’s Roofing, W.O.B. Accountants and Advisors, and several individuals as well.

Other donations have been made in the form of various services that are needed to attain a non-profit filing status and other needs for the park. Sponsorship forms are available on the Maize Memorial Dog Park Facebook page or by emailing them to request a form.

The Maize Memorial Facebook page and web site is also running some smaller fundraisers right now, like Scentsy gifts, T-shirts and dog/cat pasta.

The committee hopes to have fencing up by early summer of 2015. Volunteers are needed for various things such as fundraising and actual construction, etc. of the park.

An organizational meeting was held on Oct. 11 and another one will be scheduled soon so more people are able to get involved.
