Traffic on U.S. 30 West in Mansfield slowed Wednesday around 4:45 p.m. when the driver of a Buick LeSabre accidently merged into the rear end of a semi-truck while getting onto the highway from Main Street.

Sgt. Jason Bammann with the Mansfield Police Department explained, “The driver was merging onto the highway and got over a little too far and got under the back tires of the semi.” The accident occurred just east of the Bowman Street bridge.

Upon collision, the LeSabre swerved towards the highway shoulder and the semi-truck kept driving until eventually pulling over onto the side of the road.

The driver of the LeSabre seemed to have been okay after the incident, though he was taken to MedCentral as a precautionary measure, said Bammann. The semi driver was unharmed and not taken to the hospital.

Both the Mansfield Police and Fire departments responded to the scene and helped alleviate traffic.
