After having the opportunity to work with Mayor Marilyn John the last few years, I am proud to support her as the most qualified and forward thinking candidate for Richland County Commissioner.

Marilyn John has the broadest government experience of the two candidates. She has run all parts of a municipality with successful results. Even in these past four extremely challenging economic years, Standard & Poor’s recognized her Leadership with an upgrade to Shelby’s bond rating to “AA.” This is a great affirmation of her work and lowers the city’s costs.

I have experienced her leadership, not just for Shelby, but county-wide in “Pro-Active” economic development, workforce development, business retention and expansion efforts and her passion for a more exciting vision and successes for Richland County. Marilyn started a program called “Leader Richland” for your girls and boys, exposing them to future job opportunities here in Richland County and matching them with job creators. Her efforts recognize the need for a new kind of workforce and the value of keeping our young people here and proving to them that there are opportunities and mentors available.

Marilyn has an extremely positive outlook and vision for the county and has proven to work with both the public and private sectors to create opportunities and successes. Her work in retention and expansion of existing businesses and creating, not reacting, to workforce development finally brings optimism for Richland County.

With an M.B.A. and an understanding of businesses and how they can create opportunities, and an understanding, by experience, of the County’s infrastructure and safety needs for all parts of the county, I ask that you join me in voting for Mayor Marilyn John for Commissioner. She will bring a healthy new, yet experienced determination to grow Richland County in a new economy.

We have a real opportunity in this election to move our county forward. Please vote.
