Mansfield, Ohio – Friday afternoon, Oct. 3, members of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Terry Lee, age 36, in a family member’s residence on the 1000 block McKnight Street in Cleveland, Mississippi. Lee was wanted by the Mansfield Police Department on a Sept. 24 arrest warrant for aggravated murder, resulting from a shooting that took place on Rowland Avenue, South of 4th Street.
Task Force Officers of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force initiated a fugitive investigation on Lee on Sept. 25 and determined that Lee had fled the Mansfield area. The week-long fugitive investigation led to Columbus, Ohio; Chicago, Illinois and Cleveland, Mississippi. Officers received information and coordinated with the U.S. Marshals Task Force in Mississippi, which located and arrested Lee without incident. Lee was transported to the Bolivar County Jail to await extradition back to Mansfield.
Mansfield Police Chief Ken Coontz stated, “This arrest illustrates the value of our multi-jurisdictional collaboration between law enforcement at local, state and federal levels.”
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “We have a vast network of trained fugitive investigators across the nation that all work together to track down the most dangerous fugitives fleeing from law enforcement. This case is a great example of the effectiveness of our teamwork both within Northern Ohio and with all the U.S. Marshal’s offices across our nation.”
