GALION – The Galion community honored eight alumni Saturday night for their expertise in their chosen fields and their contribution to Galion and their respective communities. Eight individuals were inducted during the event.
Participating in the event were the Galion Middle School students; Galion High School choir, singing the Alma Mater; Avita Health Systems, catering; Supt. Mark Stefanik; Rev. Rick Maddox and Rev. Ash Welch; Dave Spraw; Gary Frankhouse Jr., Brian Treisch and the Connections Weekend Committee.
Inductees were E. Richard Hottenroth (class of 1954), Richard L. Ekin (class of 1955), Herbert L. Miller, PE (class of 1955), Dr. Victor M. Cooley (class of 1972), Mark Rodman (class of 1973), Dr. Tyler K. Huggins, MD, FACOG (class of 1980), Joice Hayden-Cating (class of 1948) and Josephine Tracht (class of 1924 honored posthumously).
Hottenroth is a Galion attorney and partner in Hottenroth, Garverick, Tilson and Garverick. Ekin owns Elliott Machine Works, Inc. in Galion. Miller is a mechanical engineer and works in the area of fossil and nuclear power. Cooley holds many degrees and currently works for NASA. Rodman is an entrepreneur, business owner and supports free clinics. Huggins is a doctor of obstetrics and gynecology and operates The Women’s Center in Galion. Hayden-Cating is a retired teacher of Galion city schools. Tracht was known for her teaching excellence in the Galion school system.
