Washington Township Fire Department

The Washington Township Fire Department Association will celebrate 65 years of serving the community this year on Thursday, Oct. 9 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Residents of Washington Township and the public are invited to help celebrate with an open house and fundraiser The open house include a tour of the updated fire station, including the fire trucks and ambulance. Guest can also meet the EMT’s and firefighters that serve the community, as well as, enjoy Marco’s pizza for a donation.

There will also be a a 50/50 raffle and children can tour the House of Hazards. Proceeds raised will continue assisting the needs of the department along with the community.

The fire department would like to say “thank you” to B-Dry Waterproofing of North Central Ohio for their support.

Washington Township Fire Department started when a fire occurred on Hathaway Road in 1947 and Washington Township farmers were upset that no fire department responded. A 2.3 mill tax levy was put on the ballot in November 1948 to help the start of a fire department in Washington Township and the levy passed.
