Thelma Elaine Brown, age 65, of Mansfield passed away Friday morning, surrounded by her family, September 19, 2014 in her home.
Now at home with her Lord and Savior, she was born October 12, 1948 in Mansfield, the daughter of Charles James and Ruth (Gorman) Swanigan.
A homemaker, Thelma dedicated her life to caring for her family. She also delighted in spending time with her grandchildren whom she loved and cherished. Devoted and dependable, she would do anything that anyone asked of her.
Never idle, Thelma was always on the go. She was good with computer equipment and had a solid understanding of how they worked. She enjoyed tearing apart and repairing computers for her friends and family.
Thelma is survived by her husband Calvin C. Brown whom she married May 12, 1995, five children and their spouses Janice and Rodney Champion of Shelby, Pam and Greg Gilliam of Galion, Teresa and Bryan Detillion of Mansfield, Elmer Ash, Jr. of Mansfield and Crystal Ash of Mansfield; two step-sons Charles Brown of Mansfield and Jonathan Brown of Morehead, KY; 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, five step grandchildren, eight siblings Gene Swanigan and Arthur Swanigan of Olive Hill, KY, James Swanigan of Washington Court House, Kennith Swanigan and Jack Swanigan of Mansfield, Betty Hamm of Olive Hill, Kathy Frasure of Florida, and Karen Springston of Marengo and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandchild Jacarra Ash, brothers Harold, Edward and Wilford Swanigan and a sister Louise Pugh.
Friends may call Tuesday, September 23, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Pastor Danny Dickerson will officiate and burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
